About Us

Historia:

On March 14th, 2023, Omega Pi Lambda Sorority, Inc. was founded when nine outstanding Women from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater began a sorority with the dream to unite the Latine community.

These nine women are:

"Xochiquetzal"

#1 Jaquelynn Fernandez

#2 Delany Aleman Silva

#3 Reserved for Xochiquetzal (the Triple Moon Goddess)

#4 Catalina Cobos

#5 Anna Pineda-Osorio

#6 Sabrina Morales

#7 Itzuri Contreras

#8 Aurora Balliett

#9 Yadira Foulker

#10 Marijke Arreola

These Hermanas became the first Latine interest sorority to be founded in the State of Wisconsin. Through their journey, they formed a bond within themselves, that would prove to be the foundation of a new sisterhood existing within the campus of the UW - Whitewater.

Our Mission:

The mission of Omega Pi Lambda Sorority is to be a support system for its members in all stages of life by promoting societal, sisterly and self-love through the pillars of Excellence, Love, Service and Scholarship. The sorority promotes excellence and love by providing its members personal and professional support on an undergraduate, alumni level, and beyond. Our members pursue scholarship not only for professional advancement, but also personal growth and enrichment. We serve the community by uplifting and aiding those in need and provide and promote cultural awareness in order to impact the collegiate environment to uphold the Metas of the sorority. Empowerment comes from the principle of excellence, through the love members receive as part of the familia, and by upholding the Metas guided by the pillars which unite us as Omega Pi Lambda Sorority members.

Our Vision:

The vision of Omega Pi Lambda is to create a home for cis and transgender women as well as fem presenting non binary individuals where they are safe to be themselves, serve the community, and learn about Latin American cultures. While Omega Pi Lambda is a Latine Interest sorority, it is not Latine exclusive. Our goal is to transform lives by providing a support system that promotes cultural competency along with personal and professional growth through all stages of life and allows our members to be part of a familia.

Metas

The founding interest group searched for a reputable organization with which to affiliate, however, they did not find one to suit its needs. They then decided to move forward with its own vision for an organization created for today's needs, that is culturally competent, service oriented, and forward thinking. The Metas resonated profoundly with the Founding Mothers and they adopted these goals, as they also saw the dream of what these goals would accomplish within the Latine Community.

These Metas are:
  1. To unite the Latine Community.
  2. To provide a strong and solid base for Latine Culture.
  3. To support each other personally and academically.
  4. To establish a network of professionals.
  5. To expand our sisterhood to an international level.
  6. To ensure the number of Latines in education is ever increasing.
  7. To enrich our environment with Latine Pride and Spirit.
